Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 22, 2026 · Applies to nexustelematics.com and the Nexus Telematics services
Nexus Telematics (“Nexus,” “we,” “us”) provides GPS fleet tracking, dash cameras, and fleet management software to US businesses. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights available to you. It covers visitors to this website, prospective customers who contact us, and the fleet data our platform processes for customers.
Plain-English summary first: we collect what we need to run a fleet platform and a sales process, we don't sell personal information, and the most sensitive data we handle — vehicle location, driver behavior, and camera footage — belongs to our customers and is processed on their instructions.
1. Information we collect
Website visitors and prospects
- Contact details you submit through our quote, demo, or contact forms: name, company, work email, phone number, fleet size, and product interests.
- Communications with us, including emails, call notes, and demo records.
- Usage data collected automatically: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, referring pages, and interactions with the site, collected via cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies).
- Marketing attribution data, such as the campaign or search term that brought you here (UTM parameters) and your answer to our optional “how did you hear about us” question.
Customer account data
- Account and billing information for customer businesses: company details, authorized user names and contact details, roles, and payment records.
- Support interactions, training records, and product usage information.
Fleet and telematics data (processed for our customers)
When a business uses Nexus on its fleet, our platform processes data generated by vehicles, devices, and driver apps. This can include:
- Vehicle location, speed, heading, trip history, and geofence events.
- Vehicle diagnostics: odometer, engine hours, fuel and idle data, fault codes.
- Driver-associated data where the customer enables it: driver assignments (e.g., ID fobs), safety events (harsh braking, speeding), and safety scores.
- Camera data where the customer deploys Nexus Vision: road-facing and, if enabled, driver-facing video; in-cab audio only if the customer enables it; and AI-detected safety events.
- Sensor data such as trailer temperature.
- Driver app data: inspection reports, job status, messages, and photos captured for proof of delivery.
For this data, our customer (the fleet operator, typically an employer) decides what to collect and is responsible for providing legally required notices to, and obtaining any required consents from, its drivers and workers. We process it to provide the service, under our agreements with the customer. Drivers with questions about data collected by their employer's Nexus deployment should contact their employer first; we support customers in responding to such requests.
2. How we use personal information
- To provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Nexus platform and hardware services.
- To respond to inquiries, provide quotes, schedule demos, and provide support.
- To send service communications, and — with the consent you give on our forms — marketing communications you can opt out of at any time.
- To measure and improve our website and marketing, including conversion measurement.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To comply with law, enforce agreements, and protect rights and safety.
We may use aggregated or de-identified data (which no longer identifies a person or vehicle) for analytics, benchmarking, and product improvement, including improving safety event detection. We do not use customer camera footage to build marketing materials without the customer's written permission.
3. How we share personal information
- Service providers who host, process, or support the service on our behalf: cloud hosting, cellular connectivity carriers, payment processing, CRM and support tooling, analytics, and email delivery — bound by contract to use the data only for our purposes.
- Certified installers, limited to the contact and scheduling details needed to complete an installation you or your company booked.
- Our corporate group, for operations consistent with this policy.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when necessary to protect rights, safety, or property — including sharing asset location with law enforcement during a customer-initiated theft recovery.
- Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with this policy continuing to apply.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share customer telematics or camera data with data brokers or advertisers.
4. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for site functionality, analytics, and — only with consent where required — advertising measurement. Our tags load through a consent management platform: essential cookies always run; analytics and advertising cookies run according to your choices. You can change your choices at any time via the cookie preferences control on this site, and your browser's settings can block or delete cookies. Where supported, we honor opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control.
5. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not sell personal information for money. Under some state laws (including California's CCPA/CPRA), the use of third-party advertising cookies can count as “sharing” or a “sale” of personal information. You can opt out of this at any time by:
- Using the cookie preferences control on this site to disable advertising cookies;
- Enabling the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser, which we honor; or
- Emailing privacy@nexustelematics.com with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share.”
6. Your privacy rights
Depending on your state of residence (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, and others with comprehensive privacy laws), you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you and access a copy of it;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions;
- Opt out of targeted advertising and any sale or sharing of personal information;
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@nexustelematics.com or call +1 (8XX) XXX-XXXX. We will verify your request (typically by confirming control of the email address on file) and respond within the time required by your state's law. You may use an authorized agent where your state provides for it. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will have it reviewed.
Note for drivers: where Nexus processes your data on behalf of your employer, your request may need to go to your employer as the data's controller. We will tell you if that is the case and help route it.
7. In-cab cameras and audio
Nexus Vision cameras can record road-facing video, optional driver-facing video, and optional in-cab audio. Recording in a workplace vehicle is governed by state law — several states require consent from all parties for audio recording. Our customer agreements require fleet operators to provide legally required notice to drivers and obtain any required consents before enabling these features, and audio recording can be disabled per vehicle or fleet-wide. Event footage is used to provide the safety features the customer configures, and is accessible to the customer's authorized users.
8. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above: prospect data for our sales and marketing relationship; account data for the life of the account plus applicable legal retention periods; and telematics and camera data per the retention settings and terms of the customer's subscription, after which it is deleted or de-identified. Backup copies purge on a rolling schedule.
9. Security
We protect personal information with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including encryption in transit, access controls, role-based permissions in the platform, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.
10. Children
Our website and services are for businesses and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for material changes, provide notice on this site or by email. Earlier versions are available on request.
