Honest comparison
Nexus vs Motive
Motive leads with AI and serves trucking exceptionally well. If you're not an ELD fleet, you may be paying for a platform aimed at someone else.
Motive (formerly KeepTruckin) built its base in trucking compliance and has grown into a six-suite platform: safety, fleet management, equipment monitoring, spend management, workforce tools, and custom AI. Their AI dash cam benchmarking is genuinely strong, and their fuel card is a real differentiator.
Nexus focuses on the local and regional fleet that doesn't need an ELD: trades, construction, delivery, services. One platform, published pricing, no spend-management upsell built into the relationship.
A note on fairness: everything here about the competitor comes from their public website and widely reported market information, current as of July 2026. If something has changed, tell us and we'll fix it. We'd rather be accurate than clever.

Choose Motive if…
- You run a large for-hire trucking operation where ELD is the center of the business — their pedigree there is the market's strongest
- You want one vendor for telematics AND a fleet fuel card with spend controls
- Published AI benchmark studies matter to your insurance or safety program
Choose Nexus if…
- You're a local or mixed fleet that wants tracking-first software — with ELD available on the Complete plan when you need it
- You want the price on the website and month-to-month terms
- You'd rather integrate the fuel card you already have than adopt a new one
- Lifetime hardware warranty beats a five-year clock for a fleet planning to stay
Questions fleets actually ask
Does Nexus have an ELD like Motive?
Yes — ELD compliance is included in our Complete plan, delivered through an FMCSA-registered ELD solution integrated into the Nexus platform and driver app. We'll still be honest: Motive's ELD pedigree is the market's deepest, and for a large for-hire trucking operation built around HOS, they're a legitimate choice. For fleets that want tracking-first software with compliant ELD included, that's us.
Are Nexus dash cams as good as Motive's?
Motive has published third-party AI benchmarking we won't pretend to match on paper. Nexus Vision covers the events that drive claims — following distance, distraction, harsh events, collision upload — at published pricing with a lifetime warranty. For most small fleets, the deciding factor is the deal, not a benchmark decimal.
What does switching from Motive look like?
Same as any switch: check your contract end date first, then hardware swap. Plug-in units self-install in minutes; cameras take about an hour per vehicle with an installer we arrange.
